Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Wacky Walk? The Wacky Walk is our big Spring fundraiser event! It is a Walk-a-thon in which students raise money by collecting donations for walking in the event. We strive for 100% participation and 100% fun!
Why are we doing a Walk-a-Thon? It is about investing in the future of our students, our school, and the community. The event will help us be active, promote stewardship, kindness and teamwork.
What is the overall goal? The School Development Committee has set an overall goal of raising $22,000. If every student raises $50, we will easily hit this goal. Some will raise more, and some will raise less, and that’s okay! The deadline to turn in the funds & envelopes is Wednesday, May 8th. Personal fundraising websites will be online until Monday, May 13.
What are we raising money for? All money raised will go to purchase new computers for each of our teachers as well as helping to fund the renovation project for the Parish Center / Gym bathrooms, along with the tuition assistance program for families in need.
How does my child participate? Students will ask family and friends for donations in to support their participation in the Wacky Walk. Students will receive an envelope for collecting donations and an example pitch to give an idea of how to ask for donations. Donations can also be made online through Greater Giving which can be accessed with this link,https://htlenexa.ejoinme.org/2019WackyWalk
How do I set up a personal family fundraising website? Go to this website https://htlenexa.ejoinme.org/2019WackyWalk and sign up your child(ren.) There is a tutorial page for setting up your personal page. Then you can send the link to friends, family, co-workers and ask them to donate or post on Facebook. All donations are tax deductible.
Do I have to use the envelope or can I just fundraising through my personal website? You can use one or the other, or both! If you do use the envelope please collect cash and write a check to Holy Trinity School for the total amount or have donors make checks out to HTS.
Is there a cost associated with using the personal fundraising page? The service is part of the Greater Giving software the parish uses. There is a small credit card service fee per transaction, that is usually under 3%. If you want to make sure that the school gets the most money possible then encourage your donors to write a check made out to Holy Trinity School.
What is the Wacky Walk going to entail? The event starts May 10th at 12:30, during the school day. We are partnering with Lakeview Village and there are three walking routes throughout the Lakeview campus. Students are in teams of about 20 students and are led by a teacher and two eighth graders. Teams will walk the route together. There are water and snack stations along the way. After the walk, there will be a special guest available for pictures!
What about safety? We encourage kids to only ask friends and people they know for donations, so that they don’t feel the need to approach strangers. We encourage children to have a guardian with them when requesting donations in person. Or just use your personnel website and send that to family and friends!
How can I help? Help spread the word by sending out an email to family and, posting on Facebook, etc. We also would LOVE any volunteers who can help with the event. Come walk with your kids, help pass out water or take photos. We want to make the event as fun as possible for everyone and welcome any and all ideas.
What do students wear? Students can get as wacky as they want to! As long as they can safely walk in it, they can wear it! They can wear costumes, be a super fan, or embellish their outfits with hats, wigs, unmatched socks, sunglasses, etc. They are encouraged to dress Wacky to add to the fun of the day!
Will donators get thanked and are their donations tax-deductible? Yes, absolutely! All contributors to the Wacky Walk will be thanked as long as they fill in their email and address. All donations are tax deductible. People who donate via your online website will automatically receive a receipt to their email address provided.
